Olivia Van Goor produced her first show with none other than Canadian jazz star Caity Gyorgy. The two were joined by a fabulous Detroit band: Scott Gwinnell (piano), Samuel Chase Harris (bass), and David Zwolinski (drums). They played a variety of tunes including standards and originals for a packed house at the Grosse Pointe Unitarian Church on June 3rd. It was a night to remember.
Olivia plays Anita O'Day for Special Tribute Show
March 25, 2022 at the Blue Llama Jazz Club in Ann Arbor, MI was a special night celebrating the music of Anita O’Day. Showcasing her different works, Olivia put together a full 3-set program of classic Anita tunes and deep cuts. She was joined by Ian Blunden on guitar, William Bennett on piano, Samuel Chase Harris on bass, and Dave Zwolinski on drums.

“Willow Weep For Me” was added to 3 Spotify Official Playlists: “Jazz Express”, “Swinging Singing”, and “Vocal Jazz”. Alongside legends like Veronica Swift, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Caity Gyorgy, Norah Jones, Samara Joy, Cyrille Aimee, and many more, Olivia’s second single from her debut EP broke 40K streams within the first weeks.

Olivia went into the studio with William Marshall Bennett (keys), Samuel Chase Harris (bass), Eliza Salem (drums), and Sami Blosser (sax) in July 2021. They recorded 5 jazz tunes at the Sound Shop in Macomb, MI. Josh Ford was the recording engineer and it will be mixed and mastered by Mark Byerly at Longview Sound, Rochester Hills, MI.

Detroit Jazz Festival 2019
Meeting Sheila Jordan, Veronica Swift, Dee Dee Bridgewater, singing at the Marriott Jam Session, and SO much more! It was a beautiful labor day weekend in Detroit, and I could not have asked for a better lineup for my first jazz festival (and honestly first music festival). Talk about inspiring.
Graduation from Denison University 2019
Olivia graduated with a BA in Music and Economics from Denison University May 18, 2019. It was a beautiful, sunny day in Granville, OH and Jennifer Garner was an amazing commencement speaker.
Marjorie Chan Award
The Denison University Department of Music awarded Olivia the Marjorie Chan Award: “to a graduating senior for outstanding contributions to the Music Department”.
OMEA Jazz Band Performance
The Ohio Music Education Association hosted the annual conference in 2019 at the Cleveland Convention Center in Cleveland, OH. Olivia sang with the intercollegiate jazz band (JECO) directed by Kris Berg. The tunes “The Gentleman is a Dope”, “September in the Rain”, and “Deed I Do” are on Olivia’s Youtube Channel.
